This new, $4,000 infrared furnace camera enables technicians to see parts of a furnace that before were difficult or impossible to see. Anthony Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is now offering this service, called Heat Exchanger Scoping, to its customers.
Their trained technicians use a very small, hi-tech camera that reaches into the heat exchanger to locate deadly cracks that can allow carbon monoxide to leak into your home. In the past, the most common method of seeing inside the furnace involved using hand-held mirrors and a flashlight. About 200 people die each year from carbon monoxide poisoning associated with home fuel-burning heating equipment.
“This technology far surpasses anything the industry has offered previously,” said Steve Burbridge, owner of Anthony. “A crack in a furnace is never good, but some can be downright deadly, that is why we decided to make the investment. We believe this camera gives us the ability to assure our customers that their families are safe in their home.”
The camera records the images of the crack(s) and technician’s analysis in video format, which can even be emailed to the customer if they wish. There is no additional charge to the customer for the scoping.
Anthony also offers the following winter energy-saving and safety tips for your home:
