CASE STUDY – Clean, Cool and Comfortable
Customer: Steve & MaryAnn M.
Topic: Corrections to make their dream house comfortable

Situation: As soon as I saw the ultra-modern design of the blueprints, I knew the job was going to be hard to execute and we were working in his own home. About 18 years ago, he had this home built, but took the advice of an HVAC contractor that only did new construction and only knew how to work with the new construction mentality. The systems they installed could never get the upper levels comfortable and now that more living spaces are to be added, the customer knew now was the time to make changes.

Action: After hours of calculations, we determined the sizes the systems needed to be to assure a 75-degree cool inside when it was 100 degrees hot outside. To further complicate things, the present systems had too much cooling capacity, so when they did run, they never removed the humidity well. With the proper size units and proper sized ductwork, we were able to divide the house into two areas: First Floor with the system in the basement and Upper Floors with it’s system in the attic.

Results: The systems were installed in coordination with the remodeler and we did find better ways to install the ducts as conditions changed. We always seal the duct connections to make them airtight and the results were clean, cool, and comfortable rooms at every level. The blowers could also vary the airflow to further reduce humidity and we had to set the thermostats at 78 degrees because with the lower humidity, 75 degrees felt too cold.

In the customer’s own words: “I have worked with many contractors over the years, but with working with you and your crew at Anthony, it was a real pleasure and you can quote me on that. I knew the systems were a much higher efficiency, but I never expected to cut my cooling costs as much as they did. That saves us money, but I really like the furnace, air cleaner, and thermostat that we are reducing our environmental impact. If we can't afford to help the environment, then who else can."
