CASE STUDY – Double Comfort From One Heater
Customer: Steve B.
Topic: Too darn cold out in the garage?

Situation: Most homes have trouble keeping the rooms above the garage comfortable in the winter because of the cold floors from the unheated garage below. Inspection of the garage overhead doors reveals that they are loose and lack much in the way of insulation. Also, the floors are a slushy mess whenever a car pulls in after a snow storm.

Action: We installed an Infra-red radiant style gas heater in the garage that uses no electricity and only 25,000 BTU per hour. The natural gas was piped using corrugated stainless steel tubing that saves labor costs because it doesn’t need to be cut and threaded.

Results: The warm garage made the rooms above warmer. The dry floors were safer and cleaner to walk on and the homeowner could now store more items out in the garage without the fear of freezing.

When natural gas costs $10 per million BTUs it only costs 25 cents an hour to run because it is 100% efficient. So on those really frigid nights with lots of street slush to melt you can let it run all night for only 2 bucks.

In the customer’s own words: "The sun shines 24 hours per day in my garage and when we leave in the morning we don’t have to play leap frog over all the slush and puddles. My cars are toasty warm. My children’s rooms now have warm floors and are comfortable. Plus, I will never have to worry about the bathroom pipes above the garage freezing, which has happened before.”
